PSA: NERSA Approves 8.76% Eskom Tariff Increase from 1 April 2026

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) has approved new electricity price increases for Eskom.

•From 1 April 2026, electricity tariffs will go up by 8.76%.

•From 1 April 2027, they will rise again by 8.83%.

These hikes are higher than what was originally planned (5.36% in 2026 and 6.19% in 2027). The change comes after a High Court ruling in December, which required NERSA to review its earlier decision on Eskom’s pricing.

NERSA reworked the numbers using its official pricing method (called the Multi-Year Price Determination, or MYPD4) and after consulting the public, it finalized the new increases. To read more, please click on the link below
