hey everyone,

you may have guessed reading between the lines, but I lost my job in the recent tech layoffs…

also burnt out and realised I need to go back to working on stuff I care about.

I hope to gather enough small monthly sponsors to at least cover the bills, so I can:

- 🖥️ create beautiful apps for #Linux / #GNOME

- ✏️ provide free #design support to #OpenSource projects

if you like my work, please consider $1/month to make this possible?

thank you. :)

Hello! I'm Hylke. I'm a product designer who codes. I design and build software. Both how it looks, and how it works.

I love working with people from all over the world.

@hbons For anyone doubting whether paying for free software is a thing, remember that when all the commercial stuff is enshittified to death, free (as in free speach) software is all we will have left that is usable.

We support who we can, in line with our feelings and ojlur finances. But remember that loyalty to a big brand name is almost always 100% one-way. "We don't care. We don't have to. We're the phone company." sums up the corporate attitude.

I am a bus driver (for my day job), not a billionaire, but I still contribute regularly for a few things. The free CD database, for example, that I've used at least once a week for ever, and a few YT channels, like the one that got shadow-banned by YT, because they advocate for EVs, and aren't scared to say what they think about shady business practices.
