Here you go @atpfm.
@jackwellborn @atpfm they’ll sell like cold cakes
@jackwellborn @atpfm are they really using a 12 years old display panel in the base studio display??? the same one from the imac 5k 2014?

@torsteinv @jackwellborn @atpfm I suppose it depends how people feel about it. I have the previous version of the Studio Display. I'm sure there are better ones but I never look at this and think outdated. 🤷‍♂️

It helps the casing looks much nicer than some plastic display but if I did not like the screen I was looking at every day I'd switch.

I totally agree they could do better but I'm guessing the sales say they don't need to and unfortunately that's what they're looking at.

@fds @torsteinv @atpfm In a weird sad way, this truly lackluster “update” retroactively makes buying a Studio Display in 2022 a good investment. The Studio Display in 2022 was much nicer and not that much more expensive than the only other 5K option at the time, the LG UltraFine. Given no one should be tempted to “upgrade” to this year's model, many owners will end up using their 2022 model for the better part of a decade.

@jackwellborn I'm not sure it's meant to be an upgrade. It's a minimal upgrade to basically keep everything in sync with thunderbolt 5 so it feels like it makes sense when selling it to new buyers.

I could be wrong but it's totally a casual consumer product which I assume they sell enough of to continue.

The Pro XDR is gone and there's no 32” option so it does feel like they're kind of ignoring pros which does feel a bit odd but maybe they hope they can sell more Vision Pros.

@fds I was actually wondering if a live keynote would have led to them announcing just the new Studio Display XDR and then followed up with a press release saying the regular Studio Display has been refreshed.
@jackwellborn @atpfm Can I tempt you with a display that’s running Tahoe?
