I forgot to make a post for Rare Rare Disease Day on the 28th. While NF1 is actually fairly common, not many people have heard of it. The genetic condition causes tumours to grow on nerves. Other conditions tend to come with it, like learning difficulties and chronic pain.
I was born with the condition, inheriting it from my mother. I have some mild learning difficulties and suspected adhd and autism. I have multiple plexifribroma, including one that disfigured my chest. I've had multiple MRIs and get regular checks yearly. Still, my case is fairly mild. Many people struggle more.
I encourage people to learn about this condition and how it affects people. It's good to teach yourselves about things like this. If you can afford to making donations to charities like Nerve Tumours UK help a lot.
