Some exciting life news... I am now a lecturer in Entomology and Ecology at Lincoln University in New Zealand!

We took the Entomology students on a fieldtrip over the weekend, and saw some of my favourite invertebrates: Velvet worms (Ooperipatellus) and giant springtails (Holacanthella)! Always a joy to see these incredible creatures.

Congratulations!
You deserve this position very much! 🫶

Lucky are your students to have a *really* enthusiastic teacher.

Congratulations!

Will you still have time to post photos of springtails on here?

@frankashwood

@frankashwood Nice juxtaposition of the two photos. They've got the same suave strut.
@frankashwood my whole family thought I was going to be an entomologist. Somewhere in the cupboard my mother’s got an old photo of me in about 1982, on my little haunches in the backyard, peering at ants. There’s always some point at a family BBQ too when someone raises the story of my cricket singing loudly from the container I’d put it into while everyone was trying to eat their dinner. I refused to be an entomologist out of spite in the end, everyone seemed so sure.
@frankashwood I wasn't even aware that these beautiful creatures existed.
@frankashwood Oh my! I've never heard of velvet worms but now I really want to see some!
@frankashwood congratulations! I can see why you're specialising in these little chaps.
@frankashwood the little dude on the right is like someone in Victorian England who has never seen an echidna tried to draw one based on a description.
