"nobody wants to work anymore" nobody ever did honey, working sucks
there's a reason the greek myth that portrays having to work for one's subsistence as a permanent fall from grace exists
@peachymist save me from work jess
@doggo *saves doggo from work*

"world sucks, I know"
@peachymist If I wanted to work, they wouldn't have to pay me to do it.
if people actually wanted to work they wouldn't seek the refuge of management
@peachymist "nobody ever did" wrong, working only sucks because of the system we live in.
@peachymist the greek myth is about having your work undone over and over again btw
@peachymist humans like to work, what they don't like is being exploited. In UBI experiments it has been noted that most people still chose to work for fulfilment and extra benefits, and that's also what would realistically happen in a system without private property.
@lainz i agree partially, of course we want to have fullfilment in our lives, but a lot of the work society needs to function primarily isn't very fun to do (like agriculture for example) and also if we think of other types of work, such as domestic work or the basic upkeep of having a human body, that's also not very fun. i think we probably enjoy rest and fun most of all, rightfully so. ultimately i think what truly fulfills us probably doesn't feel like work, although i wouldn't know bc capitalism never let me do anything fulfilling  but this is in an interesting discussion that involves a lot of thinking outside of the basic paradigm of society we grew up with
@peachymist
Well I'd consider it notable that the most necessary and unfun jobs are generally some of the lowest paying jobs currently. So I wouldn't say capitalism is particularly good at rewarding people for doing it.
@lainz
@Valdus @lainz that is very true, a janitor provides infinitely more value to society than any C-suite, but that's capitalism for you
