Well the Carmarthen Hunt are coming to this tiny valley again today 😡 Fuckers! Sheep are only weeks away from lambing #bastards
@JeniParsons I hope you can shut them down. It's a piggish pastime. Do they not have to honor private land or something? (I'm a socially ignorant colonial and don't actually know the rules of the things.)
@mason they shouldn’t be on private land but the hounds are completely unsupervised and simply run amok
@JeniParsons @mason if they deviate from the set trail then they are not trail hunting and are breaking the law as it currently stands. They should face prosecution.
I appreciate that they likely have lots of money to defend themselves and any kind of private prosecution would be costly. But the police should be pushed, hard, to prosecute 😡

@mason gross behaviour on the part of Carmarthenshire Hunt 🤮
@JeniParsons

Bollox! I forget if you have a llama, apparently they're great at guarding sheep.

The rules on sheep worrying should apply to the humans behind the dogs too*.
Plus who knows what the dogs, horses and humans are carrying - disease wise.
I imagine the bastards are still blaming badgers?

*I assume the shotgun rule still applies.
@JeniParsons I thought that all hunting was going to be outlawed including "trail" . Which of course is just a cover. If Westminster doesn't do it, couldn't the #Senedd?
@JeniParsons You would think people who are supposedly so much part of rural traditions would get this 🤬

@sparrowsion @JeniParsons they're not rural folk in the hunts. They're wannabe aristocrats from the city.
Opinion: If your Idea of fun is hunting and killing ANYTHING, you're a fucking sicko!

#HuntTheHunters

@BackFromTheDud @JeniParsons I'm going off the hunt folk I knew 40 years ago, and how the Carmarthenshire types present themselves. Who always seemed very English.

@JeniParsons

Coyote hunters same here. Its a constant war. Arrogant asses.

@oldoldcojote @JeniParsons Deer cull shooters here. One put a high-velocity round over my head a few years back. On my own land. I didn't see him but he saw me alright. Must've thought it would be fun. I've been in rifle butts and i know what an overhead round sounds like. I cannot support the Deer Cull notion just farted out of the UK Labour Cabinet Not-in-our-manifesto-but-hey-we-are-in -power Bright-Ideas-Factory. Reform voting shooters with licence to patrol at will? No thanks.

@RejoinEU @JeniParsons

Yup. I live in a high population area that was shotgun only hunting up until about 20 years ago when the sport hunter lobby got rifles approved for just about everywhere. Now my roads are full of Rambo's with semi autos during hunting season. Bullets flying everywhere. We've had to put up heavy locked gates on all the drives in because they have no respect for signs and drive their trucks over wire. Its like being in a war zone. Just hate it. I use to hunt, grew up in the north where deer, ducks, and grouse were part of a families food supply. But something has to be done to limit this reckless macho sport hunting.

@JeniParsons I've used tactically placed livestock guardian dogs to scare off hunters and their hounds before.

Just sayin'...

@davep good idea but my collie isn’t fierce enough

@JeniParsons I'd recommend getting Maremmas over Pyrenean Mountain Dogs btw. Great for defending your herd and they eat about half as much food as an adult.

They also terrify hunters, which is nice.

@JeniParsons
By the way, I don't want to give you the impression livestock guardian dogs are some awful attack dogs, quite the opposite. They're lovely defensive dogs. And once you're no longer a "wolf" you're a "sheep" and basically family.

@davep thanks David. A local woman has two Maremmas and they’re amazing - one person dogs, but perfect for her smallholding

@JeniParsons They can be socialised, but you have to slightly theatrically shake hands with a wolf for them to cotton on that they're now sheep.

And they never bother the likes of the postman either. It's the out of the ordinary stuff they look out for.

@davep I recently read Anima which has a lot about traditional guardian dogs in Bulgaria - a lovely read
@JeniParsons They are wonderful and generally very old breeds.
@JeniParsons bastards. I’ve seen some police forces issue community protection notices against hunts. Maybe worth reporting?
@JeniParsons
I still think you should be allowed to shoot them for worrying your sheep.
@JeniParsons You don't get any sort of early warning from the hunt as a landowner?
I think I'm supposed to have supplied the hunts with my email address, so they can notify me in advance. But I've never felt like sharing any of my details with them. And I'm 100% certain they wouldnt ever notify me.
@Sarah111well they notified my husband and he told them about the ewes. The problem in the past has been unsupervised hounds going everywhere but today so far they’ve not been in our fields 🤞🏼
@JeniParsons Phew! Good. The sooner they're all disbanded the better.
@Sarah111well yep apparently a hunt south of Carmarthen at Llanybri had its final ever meet today 👍🏼
