In skiing, 'slop' can refer to a kind of snow pack where lots of rain has fallen on new snow. It looks beautiful and like very good skiing conditions, but is in fact very dangerous and unskiable. Skis sink in and the snow tracks making it easy to tear ligaments or break a leg. 'Slop' can also avalanche very easily.

@mastodonmigration New #EngelskeGloser we call it "blautsnø" where I'm from. Describes current conditions in most of Norway at the moment. My skis have not been used this winter 😪 , need to fix my gear, get new boots and bindings. Maybe skis ?

@mastodonmigration Remembering now, "slop" can also be the splash of stew-like substance you can get as dinner at institutions. I know this from my extensive research, i.e. watching a lot of movies from prison settings.
