Join us for a screening of the film ‘Their Struggle is Our Struggle’ about the militant strike by migrant workers at Pierburg in 1973! 🎥❤️🔥
1973 was a year of strikes in Germany – over 300 so-called ‘wildcat strikes’ broke out across the country. This was also the case at the automotive supplier Pierburg in Neuss.
Here, the majority of female and migrant workers were fed up with exploitation by their boss, poor working conditions and lower pay compared to their male colleagues, and organised a five-day strike that would go down in history as a success.
Today, Pierburg GmbH is part of Rheinmetall AG, and a Pierburg factory in Wedding is currently being converted into a weapons production site.
So, then as now, Pierburg not only wants to profit from the general exploitation of workers, but now also wants to profit from the militarisation of Germany!
