I'm interviewing job candidates at work today. I hate doing interviews, because they force me to be judgmental and mean (and not in the consensual fun way). I try to make it as nice as possible for the candidates, put them at ease, but the contextual stress is obviously always there for them. It makes me feel bad - because I'm a softy - but that's who I am and I'll never change it 🙂
@Foritus I avoid interviewing people because I refuse to have that amount of power over someone (if I say no I could be putting them in an unfortunate financial situation)
@olivvybee yeah exactly, that kind of stuff weighs over my mind a lot :( especially as I have friends and loved ones who are in that situation. I can't really say no though, I'm way too senior at work, so it feels awful.

Interviewing is a shit process.

It is only good for finding human beings that are good at talking about their successes. It has very little to do with their ability to do the job!
