Ivor HewittLooks like i need Quartus 11.0... which is deprecated and no longer on the intel website. I wonder if there are any alternatives that support such an old chip.
ok... found a copy of 11.0... with a *lot* of kicking and hacking(*), it actually runs on a modern 64bit opensuse distro. (* there may have been some LD_PRELOAD and LD_LIBRARY_PATH shenanigans)
Will need to wait till I work out how to connect the dev board jtag to the ancient altera sw.... it used to use a parallel port adapter. I no longer have any device with a parallel port.

Got a usb blaster, but it isn't recognising the cyclone. 😞 I'll try a parallel port next.
