I have failed to start my next knitting project probably a dozen times at this point. This seems an easy pattern, but I keep losing my work off the needles, or unable to find where to make a stitch, or just some other unrecoverable error four rows in that its easier to frog and start over than try to figure out how to fix it. Honestly feeling more discouraged than expected, and not yet sure what to do to move forward.

@lizzierose can I help?
@TheJen I wish <3 I am reasonably sure it's just a skill issue; The project starts with just 6 cast-on stitches and my fingers are just fumbling so hard with it.
@lizzierose It happens to all of us. Lmk if I can help.
@lizzierose I have been knitting for 40+ years and still generally have to frog some projects 3x before I get it right. So don't feel bad. You'll get there.
@lizzierose ugh, so frustrating. Lifelines?
@pointysticksncoffee I'd not yet heard of this, that's a genius idea 👀

@lizzierose @pointysticksncoffee Oh yes, seconding lifelines! This is what they're for, a save state in your knitting if you're not confident about being able to fix mistakes.

Very useful for even advanced knitters on things like complicated lace patterns, so it's a useful thing to know how to do :)
