Well it's done. So many hours gone. It's been the bane of my life for the last two weeks. So many broken branches! Hand carved from boxwood (bird and leaves) walnut (branches) and oak (scrolls).

@ColinWoodArt That's absolutely gorgeous! Well worth all your hard work 😍

@ColinWoodArt

Pretty awesome. It reminds me of the Daoist story of someone who spent years of his life learning how to carve jade leaves to the point where people couldn't tell the difference between his creation and nature's just by looking at them.

@CloudwalkingOwl Thank you, that's some story!
@ColinWoodArt Lovely! It's so delicate. Real skill.
@AskPippa Thank you,I really appreciate that.
@ColinWoodArt AMAZING work, man, that sounds brutally tough haha. Worth it though. Wow
@ColinWoodArt This is the sort of thing that AI wants us to believe it can recreate. All the practice, study and effort is obvious. Thank you for still creating.
@UkeleleEric Thank you for your comment!
@ColinWoodArt Awesome and lovely. It's nice to see what can be created with wood carving.
@Nefex Thank you, I really appreciate that!
@ColinWoodArt beautiful and amazing. Well done.
@ColinWoodArt Amazing. It's so delicate. The leaves are incredible. The bird's feet are sublime. I can almost feel what it would be like to have them wrapped around my finger.
@ravenbait Thanks ever so much, I really appreciate that.
@ColinWoodArt That's so nice!
How many distinct pieces of wood went into this?
@14mission Thanks. There are four pieces of wood. Two different pieces of boxwood, one for the bird, and one that became all the leaves. All the branches are from one piece of walnut, and the two side pieces are carved from a piece of oak.
@ColinWoodArt Fantastic piece! Thank you for sharing! It's beautiful!
@glitch25 Thanks for commenting! 😊

You're one very talented artist!

@apples_and_pears Thanks, I really appreciate that.
@ColinWoodArt @theappletree Oh my goodness, what a beautiful little bird, what astonishing work to bring it back out of the wood. Life cycle.
