It's not the most active room, but we are around for questions. The protocol is very straightforward and once set up doesn't require a lot of maintenance.
Result: Not many people talk about it, it just works in the background in a growing number of apps.

I wish I had more time to spend on various Matrix rooms, but most of whatever time I have goes to creating sh... stuff.
The reason for my initial question was for something I'm working on, and figured it'd be nice if a) I offered support for more than uploaded "avatars" and Gravatar, and b) found out if I could self-host something similar, either privately or publicly.
