#ThrowbackThursday #TBT 8 years ago today, we visited #Aveiro. I've already shared several memories of this beautiful city (often called the "Venice of #Portugal") last year, so here's something different: a #church. This is the Capela de São Gonçalinho (also known as the Capela de São Gonçalo), built in 1714.
You might spot the statue of the chapel's patron saint, São Gonçalo de Amarante, in a niche just above the entrance. He's the patron saint of bone diseases and marital disputes and is celebrated annually in January.
I'm also sneaking in a #Doorsday, as the door is such a striking feature, alongside the iconic #azulejos.

@meoralis Nice shot! “Patron saint of bone diseases and marital disputes” — I love all these unlikely combos. Saint Erasmus (aka Saint Elmo) is the patron saint of sailors and abdominal pain.😂
@[email protected] I know, it's so random, isn't it! 😂 That's why I had to include this bit of trivia 🤭
