Ive reached a point in this project where i either have to give up or start outright winging it until i make it to the finish line

Its intended to be the canopy of a parasol, but i miscalcluated when initially planning the project and its radius is currently half of what it needs to be to fit the frame i bought to finish it. My plan to "double" the original pattern isnt going to work as i thought it would and there will be huge additional sections i have to design and execute on top of the original doubling and its just so overwhelming to think about bc circles and math and planning are difficult

Ive already frogged and rewoven so much of this thing so many times, im learning a LOT as i go but its just... a lot to know much more of that there is to get thru before its done

Im hoping that sharing here will help me get grounded and motivated to dive into the second "half" of this thing

Made from thrifted thread, used 2.75mm hook

@Irenetherogue Wow that is an absolutely gorgeous. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time getting it to the right size. Maybe you can take a break from it for a while! Or use it for something else. It’s so pretty.
@consumablejoy thank you so much! Yes im definitely letting myself have a break from it, or as i put it to myself, "putting it in time out to let it think about its life choices" 🤣

@Irenetherogue amazing. resilient. creative.

got a lot going for you I see.

@Irenetherogue It looks beautiful so far!
@Gulleko thank you so much! Im happy with it so far too 😊
@Irenetherogue it’s so well done so far! Gorgeous work!
@3janeTA thank you!! I appreciate the affirmation so much 🙏🫶
@Irenetherogue well deserved; you have strong crochet skills IMO! I’m a knitter so not as expert in crochet, but seriously nice work
@Irenetherogue Still looks terrific, you could turn it into something else I'm sure.
@GPJohnston thank you! Im still hoping to finish it out as a parasol, but i do agree that i could assuredly figure out something else to do with it... time will tell lol
@Irenetherogue Day I met my sweetie she was wearing a halter top she had made out of one of her grandmother's lace doilies. 😅
@GPJohnston OoOoOo now THERES an idea!! Thank you so much for the suggestion, definitely logging that one for future reference/inspiration! 💡

Lovely, and I want to see the parasol!

If the overwhelming embiggenment of pi is too much… use this as the center of white muslin, edge it with the crochet elements you like best; or a ruffle to be quick!

@Irenetherogue @GPJohnston

@Irenetherogue this is beautiful as is, and I look forward to seeing the finished parasol! A there going to be more petals going outwards? I see spots along the edge that look kinda like the starts to the previous row of petals, but I can't tell if it's actually the same
@Irenetherogue circles are massive. Maybe get a smaller parasol frame. So beautiful.
@Irenetherogue It looks amazing so far regardless of what you do with it.

@Irenetherogue I looked at the photos of your work with my mouth slightly open in amazement. I always find it so remarkable what people can create with their hands.

Whether you can take it further as you wish or not, I think you have already created something fantastic and that fills me with respect!
