I also digitized another mixtape over lunch. Not too much drops / loss of quality despite the age, thanks to the fact that I had made the recording on a metal tape (Scotch XSM IV - they were pretty expensive back then compared to the Maxell and BASF type II I also used and quite a bit more than the Supertape (Realistic).

"Le New Beat mix (countdown)". (Mostly) Belgian New Beat.

(Mostly) Belgian new beat mix. Recorded in Montreal, 1989 on Scotch XSM IV metal tape. DJ: Francois Dion Starts with a minimal 808 track with whale songs (808 Waves - Francois Dion) into Acid Rock by Rhythm Device. The mix concludes with Rock to the Beat by 101. Between these two very well known new beat tracks are quite a few surprises awaiting the listener.

First track is something I did post music studio time, using my 4 track TEAC. Beside the TB-303 + TR-808 track I had recorded, I also recorded two tracks that were just beats. To one of them (featuring continuously pitched toms) I added some whale songs. That's the first track on the above tape.
