Well I found me a proper PhysX card. I actually have one of these but it’s a PCIe 1X version. Will haaaaave to stick this in an era appropriate machine for some fun.

@kiteless daaaang. I don't think I've seen a standalone one. I only really started paying attention when it was bundled in with the GPU.
@frang I had a stand alone one "back in the day". I won it at a PC Gamer / Maximum PC LAN Party back in like 2005 or something like that. Not sure if anyone bought them. Super neat tech back then and it really did feel like the future, seeing it in action. Especially in my own computer.

@kiteless I remember wanting to unironically buy one of these (when new).

Have fun down that memory lane!

@colinstu Haha yeah thanks. I won one of these back in the day at a huge LAN Party. It felt like the future back then. This will go into a box with some graphics cards for the time being. Everything I do right now has to keep my impending move to Colorado in mind.
@kiteless it def felt like the future!!! And then nvidia gobbled them up and started to integrate it into their later cards and drivers and killed it for me xD.
@colinstu Honestly this was the only way PhysX was going to survive IMO. I don't think enough people would have purchased a "PPU" for it to make sense to add PhysX into games. The other players were the source engine's own physics system and of course Havoc. Probably others but I think those were the 2 biggest software players back then.
