Customers don’t care how many tickets you closed.
They care that their problem is gone.
Build for outcomes.

I became a developer to build useful things. Sometimes it feels like we’re mostly building statistics.

@dectentoo

Hey, some of us have KPIs to hit! None of them mention customers either…

/i

@airwhale 😜 So we’re measuring everything, except the people who pay us? Ah, that's that disruptive thinking, isn't it? Eliminate customers, eliminate complaints.
@dectentoo
In most cases the people who decide whether you’re doing a good job are the ones who count the tickets.
Damhik.
@OneInterestingFact Fantastic. I’ll start breaking every bug into 47 micro-tickets from now on. Then again, looking at the backlog, I could close 30 tickets today by fixing typos in comments ...hmm 😜

@dectentoo
It’s the same metric as used by lemon husk to sack the _underperforming_ devs at twitter.

Quantity is all that matters.

@OneInterestingFact Sad, really. Building something we were proud of, vs feeling more like we’re proving we’re busy 😭
