Love the shape of these chimneys on Glasgow University's Scottish Baronial style James Watt North Building.

@thisismyglasgow I work at University of Glasgow. Whenever I glance at this chimney it reminds me of the 'chimney stack' at the Giant's Causeway. Or the 'Giant's Organ Pipes'. Basically it reminds me of any basalt column geological phenomenon! 😀
@g3om4c I hadn't thought of them that way, but I will from now on! 👍🙂
@thisismyglasgow @g3om4c fingals cave. Giants organ pipes is a better match though

@foobarry @thisismyglasgow 😀 Yes, Fingal's Cave. So beautiful! Your photo really helps to reveal why these geological phenomena come to mind whenever I peer upwards at the James Watt North chimneys. I can't remember the details but I'm sure Fingal's Cave features in the legend of the Giant's Causeway.

Turner has a cracking painting of Fingal's Cave, but better than that is one by lesser-known Thomas Moran. A tour de force: https://g.co/arts/ZExvMgCbhzCQE3mm7

@g3om4c @thisismyglasgow great painting. I'd like to see the cave in person but not sure i'll ever get round to it.
