hey #fediverse people using #mastodon on underpowered machines, what is your client of choice?

I'm on a #SurfaceGo with a Pentium Gold running #Fedora with #KDE and think that maybe someone here has a recommendation for something more lightweight than the default web client.

@soapdog have you tried Phanpy?
@liaizon ooo I'm not aware of that one, let me check it out.
@soapdog its my favorite social media client around

@soapdog try https://phanpy.social or https://elk.zone. I'm mostly using Phanpy but used to switch between the two.

Worth noting that 99% of my usage is from my phone.

Phanpy

Minimalistic opinionated Mastodon web client

@andrew_chou trying that one after @liaizon also recommended it. Still trying to figure out how to make it multicolumn
@soapdog If you open the hamburger menu, there's a "Shortcuts/Columns" option that provides a way of using multicolumn and defining what each column is.

@soapdog pinafore/enafore always had great performance when I ran it on my core 2 duo

(I have a faster machine now but I still use it, because I still like fast software)

@technomancy I used pinafore in the past, was not sure if it still existed.

@soapdog it's ... complicated I guess? it still works but enafore is the fork under active maintenance

enafore has a great feature where it collapses fav/boost notifications on down so if you have a very active post it doesn't overwhelm it, but enafore also has a few focus bugs that pinafore didn't have (pinafore was always nearly flawless)
