It took years for me to start healing from relationship betrayals & years of lies from someone I used to believe I'd spend rest of my life with. That contributed to not wanting to date any other white guys for the rest of my life. The traumas one person left me to recover from was immense.

[ I ripped your heart out from your chest
Replaced it with a grenade blast

Incinerate, incinerate
Incinerate, incinerate

The firefighters hose me down
I don't care, I'll burn out anyhow
It's for alarm, girl, nothing to see
Hear the sirens come for me, ooh-ooh-ooh, yeah

You dosed my soul with gasoline
You flicked a match into my brain

Incinerate, incinerate
Incinerate, incinerate

The firefighters are so nice
I remember you so cold as ice
Now flames are licking at your feet
Sirens come to put me out of misery, oh

You wave your torch into my eyes
Flamethrower lover, burning mind

Incinerate, incinerate
Incinerate, incinerate
Incinerate, incinerate
Incinerate, incinerate. ]

Sonic Youth - Incinerate

I've never been a rebounder. I'm someone who believes in/practices trying to heal my wounds from past poor personal relationship decisions that led to increased relationship traumas. I own whatever parts I've played in my own life relationship dramas. It just irks me - when people I've been in relationships with for years - still don't accept or acknowledge their abuses towards me. That's on them.
@PhoenixSerenity
Thanks for this perspective. (Nope, not going to try to explain.)

Songs helped me to heal so much. Music is an essential part of my ongoing healing journeys. I'm so grateful for the music!

[ Now maybe
I didn't mean to treat you bad
But I did it anyway
And then maybe
Some would say your life was sad
But you lived it anyway
And so maybe
Your friends, they stand around, they watch you crumble
As you falter to the ground
And then someday
Your friends, they stand beside as you were flyin'
Oh, you were flyin' oh-so high
But then someday, people look at you
For what they call their own, they watch you suffer
Yeah, they hear you calling home
And then someday, we could take our time
To brush the leaves aside so you can reach us
Hey, but you left me far behind ]

[ The key is so distant
I've opened doors
Know when to listen
Know what to listen for, yeah

The shelf in the room
Has been the way
Of holding me
And letting me stay

Kick me out
Let me go (go)
I don't belong here no more
A releasing sense
Of getting tired
Hold myself
I can't hold myself

The shelf in the room
Has been the way
Of holding me
And letting me stay
The shelf in the room
Has been so true
I can hide in the shelf in the room

Holding out (holding out)
Never hold in (never holding out)
Holding out (holding out, never hold)
Holding out (holding out)
Never hold in (never holding out)
Holding out (holding out, never hold)

Know when to listen
Know what to listen for
Believe in resistance
Don't let them tell you anymore
Is there anyway (no)
To get away? (No)
Ask myself
While I stay inside, yeah

The shelf in the room
Has been the way
Of holding me
And letting me stay
The shelf in the room
Has been so true
I can hide in the shelf in the room, yeah

Holding out (holding out)
Never hold in (never holding out)
Holding out (holding out, never hold)
Holding out (holding out)
Never hold in (never holding out)
Holding out (holding out, never hold)

Holding out, never hold in
Holding out, never hold in
Holding out, never hold
Holding out, never hold in
Holding out, never hold in
(Holding out, never hold)

The key is so distant
I've closed my doors
The shelf in the room
Is rain waiting to pour ]

Days Of The New - Shelf In The Room

@PhoenixSerenity Thanks for this. I deal with a lot of betrayal trauma too, and I know the tune but never appreciated how applicable the lyrics are
@tym Big up, fist bumps for surviving betrayals 💗🙏 It's a difficult personal hurdle to overcome. I get it ✌️
@tym I'm pretty raw with my thoughts & feelings here.
@PhoenixSerenity It’s one of the reasons I’m grateful to be mutuals with you 🙏 My schizoid nature tends to have me presenting as if cool and reserved on the exterior usually, while I have as raging a storm inside as any borderline case really, and I desire to be seen as badly as I fear it. That’s not meant just to gripe about my weird brain as much as to say it leaves me grateful for expressive people in my life 🖤
@tym Thank you 💗 I appreciate you, seeing & understanding, me & what drives me 🙏
@tym Hugs from Vancouver Island ✌️

@PhoenixSerenity hey I just wanted to share back a song that’s meant a lot to me in similar contexts. It’s in Icelandic; some of the lyrics can be translated as:

Now we lie there
All ice-cold and blue
Shaking to the bone
Half-dead from the cold

Iceberg

You never say a word
You are an iceberg
You are frozen
You go silent in a thin voice
And hide yourself behind
