The U.S. Department of Education has proposed the Reimagining and Improving Student Education “RISE” rule, which could limit access to graduate healthcare education by setting federal student loan caps below the actual cost of required training programs. This may reduce enrollment in critical healthcare professions and worsen existing workforce shortages, particularly in underserved communities.
