wondering if there are smart fire alarms which could tell me the battery is going to run out before it starts beeping at me far too early in the morning. also why has the battery run out when my fire alarms are mains powered.

answering my own question a bit here. it would seem you can now get mains powered ones with rechargeable batteries.

also, the product details say that it checks up to 8600 times a day. all I can think why isn't it checking every 10 seconds so we get 8640 checks a day. (i suspect this might be a case of the timing not being an accurate 10s so they are hedging their bets)

i decided to do the actual maths. 8600 checks means a check every 10.047 seconds.
