@Big_Blue_Gnu "Stable OS developed from the bottom up, unlike Canonical's top-down approach—the same thing that I think is causing Windows' downfall."
Yes, I agree with this idea. I bought a small refurbished 2-in-1 laptop for traveling and installed Mint with Cinnamon on it. And it's fast.
So I want to replace Kubuntu with Mint on my primary machine as well. I'm a fan of cheap machines.
But I need a simple application for sharing folders in Mint. A data vault.

Sharing like with Syncthing? @syncthing
@IchoTolot @Big_Blue_Gnu @syncthing A little complicated for me. I back up to Proton Drive, but I need to store and secure data on a disk in case my laptop is physically lost.
Or it will be confiscated and mined.

@plsik @Big_Blue_Gnu @syncthing I'm still not sure of what you want :)
* You want a *second* backup locally on a disk?
* You want a real time backup (in case thats not what proton does)?

Anyway, then syncthing isnt your friend.

For a local backup you could take a look at #kopia

if you fear getting "mined", you will obviously dont want a "sync" (as in two-way comparison of folders) but a manually triggered copy of your files to an external disk.

@IchoTolot @Big_Blue_Gnu @syncthing Yes. My files are encrypted on Proton Drive. But if I want to have them on my computer's hard drive as well, I would need a GUI application that would create an encrypted folder for me.
@plsik @Big_Blue_Gnu @syncthing Well, #kopia does exactly that 😏
