Sometimes when I try to build an IRL relationship, I'm reminded why I prefer hermitude.

It goes like this: I feel comfy w/ someone so I open up about something - could be personal, could be societal - expecting agreement or at least understanding in response. Instead, their thinking is totally orthogonal to mine & they make me feel like a weirdo.

It's not the actual disagreement that bugs me, but my misjudgment of what the other would think.

@ikuo1000 I’m sorry for the disappointment. It’s really hard to predict people, so don’t be too hard on yourself when the outcome is different than what you expected. People are complicated. Why dogs are man’s best friend? 🐶

@huskify Thanks. It's disappointing enough when the person surprisingly turns out to think vastly differently from me, but it just makes it so much worse when I'm totally expecting a comforting "Yeah, that's rough / interesting" and instead I get a judgy "Why would you even think that?"
