how do you do your email and website hosting?
@futurebird @ryanfb If you're comfortable with Linux (or BSD), you can host a serious website on a tiny Virtual Private Server instance for about $5/month (I've been doing this for at least a decade). I'm sure there are even cheaper options as well. Put up some HTML, point your domain at the VPS's IP address and you're live!
As for email, there are ethical companies that provide that. I've been with @runbox for, I think, 8 years or so? You can bring your own domain.
@ryanfb Hell yeah! ✊

Exactly this.
And on a non-technical front, it's also about slowly building up a personal resistance against FOMO and the temptations of conveniences that come at a terrible cost.
