La Pasionaria on Clyde Street in Glasgow. A favourite of many people, this statue is a memorial to the 2,100 British volunteers who fought for the Republican cause against Franco’s forces in the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939. Of these, 534 died, including 65 from Glasgow.

@thisismyglasgow do you have similar, but with the quote legible? Would love one of those πŸ‘
@DubiousParsnip I do have a photo with the quote in it, but the angle means the background is rather cluttered, so it's not really suitable for turning into a print. πŸ˜”
@thisismyglasgow print arrived today, thank you: it's cracking πŸ‘
@DubiousParsnip Glad it arrived, and that you're happy with it. πŸ‘πŸ™‚
@thisismyglasgow I used to go out of my way just to pass in front of it. One wonders why I have seen many more Republican monuments outside Spain than in Spain. Well, it is more of a rethoric question, but even so...
@thisismyglasgow . A wonderfully poignant statue.
