I looked out the window, and squirrel friend was giving me the, "I'm hungry! Where's my breakfast!" look, so I rushed outside with some walnuts and hazelnuts. When I came back into the house, crow friend was eating the hazelnuts. So I quickly put together some crow food and brought that outside (corn, peanuts, sunflower seeds, leftover cat food, suet bits). Then I came back into the house and my Blue Jay buddy had beaten everyone to the feast, but now the crow is back with a friend!

Fun fact: Crows can open hazelnuts with their beaks! Walnuts, not so much...
@DoomsdaysCW Crows simply wait for cars to run over the walnuts.
@c_merriweather Yeah, but then they risk getting run over by cars. I've seen that happen, unfortunately. (There was a raven with a broken wing that myself and others in the neighborhood used to feed. We even called animal control, but there was nothing they could do. The local bird rehabilitator was completely full of "patients" and couldn't take in another bird.

@DoomsdaysCW

My beloved orange cat Okki would steal Gerrit's (my squirrel) hazelnuts, crack them, and eat them.

Wow, @pascaline ! I can see a cat playing with them, but eating them? That's a new one to me!

@DoomsdaysCW

Okki was very special πŸ’—πŸ₯°πŸ˜»

Awwww.... @pascaline Orange kitties are usually very special. A friend had one named "Amber" who was a total sweetheart. I'm sure Okki was as well.

@DoomsdaysCW

They ARE special 🧑
One vet said, as she was examining my first (orange) cat Jip: "Oooh, an orange cat. My mother loves them. 'Those are the only ones allowed!' she says.", and she smiled.

@DoomsdaysCW I didn't know walnuts had beaks!
@DoomsdaysCW This sounds like a lot of my mornings too:-)
@DoomsdaysCW What you can't see is the three of them just around the corner, giggling and cajoling each other, "Now *you* go; see what else they run out here with for us..."
Tee hee, @ToddPM ! That sounds about right!
