Yes well, my garage & back garden did flood again & worse than last time. I’ve taken pictures & emailed my housing manager, hopefully it’ll be dealt with properly this time. Silt, dirt & debris everywhere ☹️. It’s going to be impossible for me to clean it all up myself, I can do some but not the fine crap in the garage. I can’t wear anything on my feet when I come into the house from the garage either due to the silt. What a mess. I’ve emailed community housing, just waiting to hear back. I estimate it came up at least 15cm as the overflow gully drain was topped with a pile of litter.

@feather1952 Oh no - what an awful return home. It's hard to keep the rest of the house in good nick when you're walking through that. Wishing you a speedy & long term resolution with the housing manager so you don't have to worry about flooding again in the future.
@Goimbla
I can manage the back garden area myself with hose & can get rid of some stuff out of the garage too. My mind is already looking for solutions of how to deal with it. It’s going to be a busy week.
@feather1952 What a shock to find that, you were hoping you had been spared. Hope it’s fixed soonest.
@treleanor
Thanks Trish. I think I’ll be having a glass of wine tonight.
@feather1952 Oh gosh, what a blow. So sorry, Heather. I hope they get it sorted as soon as possible xx
@teadrinker
Me too. Some Chiltern friends have offered to help with the clean up & they’d have all the gear. I’ll see what community housing come up with.
@feather1952 Oh no, Heather, sorry to hear this! 🫂
@caity
Thanks Caity. I couldn’t have done much about it even if I was here - in fact if I had been I’d have freaked out even more.
@feather1952
Bugger!
Been flooded a few times in my life (a long time ago) and I know what it’s like.
Not good.
Hope there’s not too much damage.
@RaymondPierreL3
Twice in 3 months - not happy. I feel a bit calmer now though as things are being set in place to clean it up. Still waiting to hear back from community housing. This was wasn’t just here, there could be issues elsewhere as well.
@feather1952 what a bummer Heather. I hope they get onto it quickly
@dropbear
Thanks - & I’ve just realised after all this time - I don’t have a name for you - so thanks Bear 😁.
I was feeling pretty overwhelmed earlier, but I’m ok now & know what I’m going to do. I’ll have to wait & see what housing has to say. The glass of wine I’ve just poured is helping - I’m pretending it’s Friday.

@feather1952 that's a bit of a mess!

I hope nothing is damaged, and the smell isn't too bad!

Make sure you only do what you can!

As someone with a "bit" of experience of flooding...
I throw an old piece of artificial grass/synthetic carpet/tarp over the mud until it can be pressure washed. This means you can walk on it without traipsing it everywhere

Also hose it myself if I can
But you need to wear wellies. The mud could contain all sorts!

@AnnonBudgie
No real smell at the moment. I’ve removed the mats from in front of the doors into & out of the garage, they’re hanging over the corner of the line, but I’m only keeping one, the other two are going in the bin. I have a wooden shower thingy but was going to get rid of it. It’s now my mat to take my thongs on or off as I go in or out of the garage.
I do have something like a tarp, I’ll have to see how big it is. The back area I can sort out, I would use the tarp thing to enter the garage from the unit & to the back door & vice versa. Good thought, thank you 😃.

@feather1952 no worries.. glad to be able to help!

I've unfortunately had a bit of experience

I'd wash your wooden shower thingy off after the cleanup.. for next time
They are easy to clean 🤷‍♀️

@AnnonBudgie
I’m sorry you’ve gone through it too. It’s horrible.
Good idea & definitely keeping it now.

@feather1952 now that I have moved there is no more flooding 🤞🤞

The previous place I'd get 5-10 cm inside one side of the house whenever there was a lot of rain

Sandbags helped and all the floors were tiled... and after the 1st time there wasn't a lot of damage... learn adjust overcome

@AnnonBudgie
I really appreciate what you’ve told me 😊.
@feather1952 So sorry, that is horrible, and physically exhausting. Hoping you get decent help and attention from Community Housing so it does not happen again.🤗
@feather1952 good luck with it Heather. I hope the housing folk can get busy with remediation very soon. 🤞
@smitjo
Thanks John, I appreciate it 😊.
@feather1952 well, that sucks, dammit. Hope they help sort it out fast.
