@bikeottawa right on red was such a weird concept to me when we moved to Canada. I’ve been brought up to see a red light and stop even if I was turning (left in my case in the UK).
@LibraryAndTea Same in France. It shouldn’t exist in the first place. So much easier when red means red.
@bikeottawa even driving, right on red is annoying. If you don't think it's safe to turn and the guy behind you does more often than not they'll honk at you. Absolutely wild behaviour given that a right turn on red is optional and doesn't count as impeding traffic in Ontario.

@bikeottawa if I had a dollar buck for every time I've had a near miss or impact from right-on-red, I'd have enough money to buy a local election.
