Virtual #DocumentFreedomDay2026 event: March 28th, 10-11:30 AM EST (2 PM GMT). #Open discussion on Free formats & the #FOSS that supports them. We'll highlight #CreativeCommons & #PublicDomain #multimedia shareable in #Free formats. We need attendees & a few more speakers for short (~15 minute) talks on favorite Open Formats or #FreeSoftware projects that use them. Let me know if you want to present. #DFD2026 #OpenSource #ebook #OER #OpenScience #OpenAccess #OpenData #Libraries #AskFedi

@dff We're developing #Cloudillo — an open-source self-hosted platform for collaborative apps.

There are no open standards for real-time collaborative document formats. Existing ones like ODF weren't designed for live co-editing.

So we started designing our own: CRDT-based formats for spreadsheets, presentations, whiteboards.

But this shouldn't be a one-project effort. Looking for people & orgs interested in open specs for
collaborative formats.

Would this make a good #DFD2026 talk?

@szilard Yes, that would make a great talk. Also, if you have any links to information on what you're designing or a call for volunteers someplace, let us know and we can share the information.
@dff we have some info on the Cloudillo docs site (a design guide summarizes our experiences and there are the specifications of our work-in-progress formats).
You can look into that at https://docs.cloudillo.org/.
We have no call for volunteers yet, but I will create something and share it with you. Thanks for offering help!
