Hey yall, I am looking for a friendly ttrpg forum, preferably with a focus on game design and creation. I don't mind if the community is small, I just like to exchange with fellow creatives. Havent been active in forums in AGES and am completely out of the loop. Any recommendations?
Bonus points for, german-speaking communities, decentralized, federated and/or opensource projects.

I have been invited by @Anth0rx a while back already. Just logged in and will give it a spin. I am very new in the Matrix chat space and am still feeling things out. @iko has been testing matrix chat, considering setting up a Server for the TLB community and in general I have heard of a couple of communities thinking about to migrate to matrix.
How is your experience?
I can't compare. I only know Matrix, Telegram, and Discord. Discord has too many bings and makes me feel like an old man. Telegram is obsessed with having unique emoji they call stickers.
Matrix has worked fine for five years, except for once afternoon the images were slow to transfer. Everyone hates it but I don't know why.

The Illuminated Snail forum is a place for folks to talk about, play, and create tabletop roleplaying games together.
It's just a (small) handful of active people right now. But my hope is for it to slowly grow, include lively discussion about tabletop roleplaying games, facilitate multiple weekly games in various time zones, and host active development of games and game material.
Oh ja, Tanelorn. Also erstmal habe ich Respekt davor, dass es noch existiert und es bestärkt meinen Gedanken, dass Foren eine gewisse Stabilität mit sich bringen. Ich habe eine bisschen Sorge um die "edgelordiness" von so älteren Foren und communites und habe eigentlich gehofft, dass es was frischeres gibt 😅 Vielleicht bin ich da aber auch voreingenommen, bin ja schließlich nicht dabei und vielleicht ist alles ganz flockig da.
Wie sind deine Erfahrungen?
Puh, ne, dass geht für mich nicht. Ich brauche eine (kleinere) bubble, die sich politisch ganz klar positioniert, damit ich mich wohl fühlen kann.
@crlbox Ich behalte als Software gerade Roomy im Kopf, das eine Discord-Alternative werden soll (ist aktuell sehr alpha und sollte nicht für was verwendet werden, was Updates überstehen soll). Momentan födertiert es über AT (Bluesky), ActivitiyPub soll aber kommen. Das wäre dann vielleicht was für die eigene Initiative, denke ich. Ich wäre generell bei ner Community dabei, die OSR-nah ist
