@marnanel It is, however, shocking that Bedford council's social media presence is not aware the Ramadan is set by one of several sighting committees, rather than directly by the creation of the moon.
My knowledge of current Islamic theology is insufficient to suggest which sighting committee holds for which communities. It is however probably safe to assume that Bedford Borough Council does not hold authority over the Saudi Arabia sighting committee, which is often recognized and almost always considered.
