After some time watching #kdrama I'm sharing my favs:
Cat. 1: SUBLIME
Everything came together for me: story, writing, acting, cinematography, music, in:
#Lost/Unqualified to be human
Beautiful. Tragic. The hair. The ending.
#MyMister
The dept. Different ending dep. on which storyline you followed. Stolen looks. The brothers. All women.
#TheEighthSense
Unapologetically gay. The ensemble. Handling mental problems. The fun.
#MrSunshine
The colors! Over the top, symbolism, great personas. 1/N

Cat. 2 Excellent+
#MyLiberationNotes
Beautiful. Dark. Intense. The Ending.

3/N #kdrama

I feel I have forgotten to mention quite a few and I also still have a watch list that includes some gems!

However, I feel I also need to mention that the following well-known ones did not do the trick for me:
#wiwwsk #vincenzo #mrqueen

How about you, my dear #kdrama nims?

4/N

Oh, and then we also have Cat.5 Excellent, BUT...
#loveisabonusbook loved the office environment, BUT... serious lack of chemistry, ML2 was better suited
#somethingintherain lovely, BUT.. the screaming mother
#descendantofthesun entertaining, BUT.... too long of the same
#thetrunk
Very special atmosphere, BUT.... crazy story with that crazy ex
#itsokaynottobeokay
Same, BUT... no facial expression ML

5/5 #kdrama

@mel My Mister is my most favorite, too. I have seen and liked two more out of your sublimes, and four out of your excellent+ ones. BTIMFL is another one of my favorites, and I also liked BP and WTWIF from cat #3. I tried, but hated CLOY.
For me, the camera work and the music made The Trunk a favorite despite the very crazy story.
@sbi Ha, yes, the trunk was very conflicting; it made a huge impression in me bc it was so beautifully made, but come on... what is the deal here, ex? I can really recommend Lost, not light, but talking about a series with a special atmosphere, it is worth a month of Iqiyi. Oh, and the complete opposite on the heavy/light spectrum is love to hate you, I wish there were more of these fun series made nowadays.. #kdrama

@mel I think, given the hilarious plot devices of some Korean dramas (fake marriages are a common trope, and so are main characters who basically had to raise themselves from elementary school age…), TT wasn't even that much of an outlier. Yes, they definitely stretched the fake marriage trope a bit further than most, but they played quite skillfully with it. And some of the camera work was absolutely stunning, especially in conjunction with the music.

For something deep, MM beats them all.

@sbi True, true, and I am willing to accept a lot, but sometimes it is just too much haha
@mel I can relate to that. Everybody had their own unique mix of what they can accept and what they cannot. (I could not get myself to watch past episode 2 of CLOY, which everybody else assures me is one of the best dramas ever.)
@sbi Yes, we discussed earlier that you have to accept a lot of unrealistic elements of life in NK for that one, same goes for eg Vicenzo with the mafia vibe
@mel I never even attempted to watch Vincenzo, but I tried CLOY, and, unfortunately, I was born and raised east of the iron curtain. The depiction of what NK is like was far beyond my acceptance.
@sbi Yes, I discussed CLOY with some friends last week 'If you forget about repression, hunger and reputation of soldiers it is a great series' (It was a very bitter joke of course)
@mel I wasn't even morally outraged. It was just the naive view onto those people's lives that I couldn't take.
