Gaza father digs through rubble to find remains of his family

Mahmoud Hammad sifts through the rubble of his Gaza home, destroyed by an Israeli airstrike over two years ago. The attack killed his wife, children, and other family members. Using picks, shovels and his hands, Hammad has recovered bones and fragments that he keeps in a box. Once he collects enough remains, he plans to give them a proper burial. Since a ceasefire in October, efforts to recover bodies have increased, but challenges remain due to a lack of heavy equipment. Gaza's Health Ministry says more than 700 bodies have been recovered since the ceasefire, and that some 8,000 people remain buried under the rubble.
