First time around Lunar New Year in a country where it is a thing. And a big thing it is indeed.

Erstmals um das Mond-Neujahr in einem Land, wo es gefeiert wird. Und gefeiert wird hier so richtig.

[edit: change of term for the holiday]

@rcr
Don't dare call Tết Chinese, in a country where they were the occupiers for 1,000 years!
@EllenInEdmonton I am sorry, and you are right of course. I am aware it is called Lunar New Year here (though strictly speaking it follows a lunisolar calendar).
I didn't mean to make a political/historical statement...
@rcr
Oh, I understand! Many people in the world refer to the festival as Chinese New Year, although in China, it's known as Spring Festival. I just happened to have lived in Vietnam for 6 years, and I know that there is intense resentment of the Chinese invaders, even though it ended over a millennium ago!
@rcr
The festival is a huge celebration in Vietnam, with flowers and other decorations being purchased and displayed by most households. When the actual holiday occurs, all forms of transportation are booked solid, and few businesses are open.
