OpenStreetMap is a open, freely editable GIS database(imagine Wikipedia, but instead of articles, you edit the mapping information used by apps) that is used by

#OSMAnd, and even popular tools like Google Maps, Uber, and others.
I am one of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, mappers that update it. I focus on updating it to have hours and other info we usually ask Google for so that we can rely less on Google.
