Went to Rising Tide's Action Camp at the weekend. Had such a wonderful time. The bush setting was especially lovely - so grateful to our very generous hosts for sharing it with us. #RisingTide #nature #environment

Rising Tide's foundation training over the weekend was fab: interactive, inclusive, and informative. Feel i left with a deeper understanding of Rising Tide's 10 principles and how they apply to actions.

Also the camaraderie was amazing! The relief of being with people who share similar views and goals is such a relief (even for someone like myself who lives in a relatively left voting city). #RisingTideAus #RisingTide #environment

Rising Tide's 10 principles are up on their website so yeah, i had read them before joining the local hub and the blockade. And it was all stuff i was really happy to support like a commitment to non-violence.

Some i'd liked but had totally forgotten about by now like helping each other learn and grow! So a reminder was very timely. #RisingTide #activism #environmentalActivism

There was also an amazing open mic night. So much chaos, joy and music. We finished up singing sea shanties. 😍🎢

It's been a long time (years!) since i've written a poem but i managed one in the half an hour while waiting for the open mic to start.

Then i mustered up my courage to put my name on the board and then get up and read it.

There were also all these critical things i wanted to say about my poem and i managed not to let any of them out of my head.

Almost tripped over a large black dog racing back to my seat after reading (she was resting in the aisle and blended into the night). Thankfully no person or animal injured. It was kind of funny, given my struggles with depression over the years (though i'm currently doing better).
Mobile coverage was patchy so that's why i'm only tooting about it now.

Well done you! πŸ†
@psychopoesie So glad to hear it was a success Poesie! Everything Rising Tide is a success, always with wonderful community camaraderie. How did the sleeping go?
@sister_ratched i never sleep well away from home (and not always great there) but had a bedroom totally to myself - luxury! And my housemates were so quiet and considerate. So my worries about disturbing others in a dorm like situation with snoring or my night time awakenings came to nothing!
