As we end the week, there is one correspondence I cannot forget.

Elon Musk has been making money from Starlink being used in the Ukraine war since February 2022. And through all this time, Russians have been using Starlink to coordinate their invasion, their bombing of cities, their killing of civilians.

And now, after 1440 days of making a profit off of Russian Starlink terminals โ€” after countless Ukrainians have been killed โ€” he casually turns off the Russian terminals.

I am lost for words.

@randahl
He says youโ€™re welcome. If he had cared at all he could at least say heโ€™s sorry. What a worthless human being.
@randahl mark of a true leader, prepared to deal with absolute arseholes like Trump and Musk to save his people. Must make his skin crawl.
@randahl Space X IPO is on the way so he has to make the company look clean before.

@randahl

The only angle I can see is that Agent Orange wants to look like he stopped his 9th war.

The absence of Musk/Starlink support weakens Vlad's hand and the Russians will have to take negotiations seriously. Theatre to make people forget about the Epstein files.

Maybe Musk's motivation for this is that he is in the Epstein files more than has been revealed so far.

@randahl 2023 Musk helped Putin by disabling starlink on frontline and drone use.

@randahl Highlighting the importance of digital sovereignty to us all: When a rando billionaire can screw over your nation's war effort because they feel like it.
@zazzoo or misinform your voters during an election.

@randahl Yes. Elon Musk could have cut off the Russians any time. He chose to wait for 4 years and a hundred thousand dead, millions without power, freezing to death in the cold, instead.

Those numbers qualify as genocide. But heโ€™s expecting people to be greatful.

@randahl Bloody bastard, Elon Muskolini. Your parallel providing Starlink service to defenders and the aggressor likely over years have cost Ukrainian lives, so rot in hell for that. Whatever sane person would do that? You had technical control over authorized receivers all the time.

This is no UFC event or gladiator fights, but it sounds like setting them up against each other. IMHO you don't deserve that the Ukrainian Gov't still thanks you - for what? Shame on you, horrible scum.

@randahl ๐ŸงThis person #Musk is known for many things incl'g:
1) selling #EVs with #defective door handles tt resulted in #deaths (many fiery) of >=15 innocent folks;โšฐ๏ธ
2) selling #SpaceX rockets tt experts argue are physically infeasible & yet earned billions of $ of #taxpayer-funded government #subsidies & #contracts;๐Ÿ’ธ
3) buying #twitter & turning it into an #XGrok cesspit of child & female sex #exploitation content; etc., etc.๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
In a normal country, such a person would've been incarcerated, no?๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
@joseph11lim @randahl Putting dangerous numbers of satellites in orbit around the Earth, almost certainly leading to chain collisions known as the Kessler Effect.
@anne_twain @randahl Indeed. Substantially raising the risks of tripping catastrophic consequences of the #KesslerEffect qualifies as number 4. And there certainly are more, etc., etc.
@randahl Musk is notoriously unstable. Who's to say that he won't capriciously turn on Russian Starlink again in the coming weeks or months. Perhaps he will decide to end Ukraine's access? He is a loose cannon.
This irresponsible, volatile man should not be in charge of the largest and growing global satellite network. Starlink has just asked for permission to launch ONE MILLION more satellites into low earth orbit.
Beware.
