Amazon. Cartoon from 2024.

@royaards now he is gutting the Washington Post, silencing as many journalists as possible. He has closed the Kyiv office for one 😢
@connynasch It's beyond sad. I did a cartoon last year when WP cartoonist Ann Telnaes decided to leave the sinking ship.
Except that we now know that the pyramid builders were not slaves but workers who were well treated & fed, precisely so that they would be in top shape on the construction site... which just goes to show how capitalism has really ruined everything!
@royaards There are other online shops. We don't have to support monopolists.
@royaards @rysiek Having worked there for almost 10 years, I am anxious to leave Amazon as I hunt for new positions.

@royaards

Haven't gotten anything from Amazon since 2022. #boycottAmazon

@VeroniqueB99 Good job. I've not gotten anything from them for at least a year. It's definitely possible.

@royaards

@paulk 👍 💯
I don't get it... it's easy...

@royaards

@VeroniqueB99 Most people prefer ease of use over peace of mind. "Amazon has everything so we get everything from Amazon."

Well, flock Jeff Bezos and his ilk. Not a cent from me any more.

@paulk 👍

@VeroniqueB99 @paulk

I canceled my Amazon account in 2022, and haven't bought anything from them since.

Going to set up a rule on my LAN to block Amazon.com, FaceBook.com, X.com, etc.
Just give them no air, and no money!

It would help to setup a site that provides alternatives to Amazon, a marketplace where you can buy stuff from non-Amazon sources, one that does not collect a hefty cut from both sides, nor promote needless consumerism.

Buying from FB ads has been very, very unreliable.

@purrperl @paulk

"Buying from FB ads" 😱 ... you're asking for it!

"Just give them no air, and no money!" we should try that with dumpf and magas....

@VeroniqueB99 @paulk

Got off FB too, in 2023. No meta, no whatsapp, no instagram, no threads.

@royaards

What upsets me most about the billionaires from Walmart and Amazon is that their companies continue to make record profits while the salaries for many workers are so low that many of them need food stamps (SNAP) to survive.

I can't understand that a government allows companies to be profitable while not paying a living wage but requiring the government to pay money to the workers.
