No matter what I do tweaking OBS Studio's settings, I can't get it working smoothly, recording proper video since upgrading from a GTX 1080Ti to an RTX 5080.

I have the latest version. I''ve setup a new Profile, set the recommended encoders in recording settings, etc.

Whereas a 15 second recording might have generated a 50MB MP4 1080p 60 video, now the same results in a 1MB file that shows one frame every 10 seconds -- or no frames. And with the latest recommended settings -- no recording is written to disk at all when it's "recording."

I've probably spent 3 hours fiddling with it over the past month. I have a Ryzen 7 7700X and 32GB DDR5 -- so it's not a resource issue.

Does anyone have alternative screen recorder recomendations? Is Nvidia's overlay recorded decent? I am trying to record -- not stream, btw.

@blakespot what do you mean by "latest recommended settings"? There are no particular recommended settings since every situation is different. In principle a simple NVENC with all defaults should be fine. You might want to pop into the OBS discord and ask the support channel, it should work just fine
