@yogthos loops is a proprietary, non-federated application
@lizzy @yogthos not anymore
@kimapr @yogthos yea but the techbro maintainer of it also publicly advocated for the government to force striking workers back to work. i don't think it's worth advertising
@lizzy @kimapr is there a source for this, I'm not really familiar with this particular drama
because dansup/pixelfed is making me increasingly uncomfortable AND because there are no data export tools for pixelfed, i made one that exports to an 11ty-compatible format.

@[email protected] @[email protected] It was during the Canadian postal strike (you can look up the timeline of that one, but it ended a couple weeks ...

@lizzy @kimapr I don't see a reference to forcing striking workers back to work there though. The only comment from dansup in those links is about him using chatgpt?
@yogthos @kimapr i spent about an hour looking at the archive.is yesterday, but the original post isn't there (it's deleted), however there is posts of dansup referencing the incident, and a lot of people have also seen the original post, so yea

@yogthos @kimapr the reference explaining what happened with the anti-strike comments is the first link
@lizzy @kimapr I don't see any actual comments from dansup in the first link though, it's people discussing a comment that's deleted apparently?
@lizzy just to note #loops and #pixelfed are developed by the same guy. I however administrate a #pixelfedGlitch instance and must say it's a bit buggy.

@lizzy
@yogthos @kimapr

I occasionally hear all these weird shenanigans about him, but never actually see something from the guy's account that would implicate him. Before this, there was a rumour of anti-trans sentiment or something.

It almost feels like some people are actively working to create a rumour mill. Not sure why and to what end.

@lizzy @yogthos https://github.com/joinloops/loops-server/tree/main?tab=readme-ov-file there is now sour code (actively updated) and activitypub

@lizzy @yogthos not sure if you are confused with a different loops but this one is open source and federated https://joinloops.org/
Loops - Short videos. Your community. Your rules.

All the fun of short-form video, none of the corporate control. Loops is federated, open-source, and designed to give power back to creators and communities.

@alex @yogthos it's that loops, but it was closed and non federated for a long time
@lizzy @yogthos ah ok! I am glad it is open and federated now then.
@yogthos There's no Fedi equivalent for Myspace sadly. (Yes I get SpaceHey exists; it's not federated, it's proprietary. No Friendica is not a substitute for Myspace xD)
