Bike news, for anyone keeping up with my #Rivendell savings: I have changed my bike goals!

After much thought and (so) many YouTube videos, I'm choosing to save for a #Brompton electric G-Line, instead. Yeah, this model is actually more expensive than the Riv. But it's SO much better for my situation as a person with chronic health issues. I can ride out from home (with the assist that helps me so much already on my current e-bike) and if I need a ride back, I could easily fold it and step on a bus or into an Uber. This scenario has happened several times so it's a real concern, not a theoretical.

I can also take it into stores and appts. with me (the very real risk of a Riv getting stolen has become increasingly stressful over the last few months).

I had a Brommie years ago, and it's one of the few things I've truly regretted selling. So the normal-bike-to-Brompton adjustment won't be an issue, I've done that already.

@hollie it’s such a cute bike! Has been on my radar as well. Great job in thinking through what will work best for you.
@kimu @hollie
A Brompton is a great choice, if you can find a way to pay for it! They are very versatile, for sure. Also, my last couple of bikes have been foldable, and I really appreciate the lower centre of gravity. If my bike starts to tip over, it's much easier to right myself or just put my feet down.

@EllenInEdmonton @kimu Yeah the low center of gravity is really nice. I loved the folding aspect of my old Brompton. I used to take it on the trail regularly from Seattle to Portland to visit my dad. It was never a problem and often invited fun conversations. I also used to roll it around in grocery stores easily, shopping as I went. So nice!
@hollie wonderful change of plan!
@hollie Sounds like you get several advantages with that one to fit you right you and later, safety and mobility together.
May your bike savings grow fast!!!
@hollie if you're in the UK I think @BlytheCycles is selling a couple?
@hollie i have two size small electric G lines for sale. Forest Green, done 2 miles, and Traildust White done 25 miles. I also have a complete set of additional G lines luggage.

@BlytheCycles Sadly I'm not in the UK! :) I wish I were right now.

I'm in the US, and also I'd need a Medium for my height. But thanks! Good luck! I can't imagine you'll have trouble selling them.

@hollie the difference between the medium and the small is the seat post, which is interchangeable. The dimensional reach is also about 5mm different. I rode both and couldn't really tell the difference. In case that helps you find one.
@BlytheCycles Oh thanks! I thought the wheelbase was different so I was wondering if I could get a large even though it's outside my size range (I'm 5'9"), because I like the longer wheelbases. But if it's just seat height, then a medium is where my size fits.
@hollie the frames are all the same, the seatpost changes length but are interchangeable, the angle on the bar stem (?) changes but not by much until thr large. Its more about reach and given the bars are shaped and replaceable you can tweak this quite a bit. The wheelbase is quite short especially if you compare to a larger wheeled bike. Very manoeuvrable and definitely not as twitchy as the standard Brompton
@hollie i would recommend a test ride, i know a 5ft 8 guy who went medium and still needed a longer seatpost!
@BlytheCycles Good to know! There's a place in Portland that has them, I'll ask there or a test ride when I'm ready.
@hollie What is the conversion from normie to Brompton process? What aspects of riding one are foreign/new.
@LovesTha Oh just things like getting used to the folding process, to the lower center of gravity, to riding a bike with much smaller tires, etc. It turns and accelerates a little different.
