❄️ Keynote by Ksenija Hanaček: On Thin Ice. Drawing on 7 years of research, she unpacked Arctic extractivism, geopolitics & infrastructure, situating Greenland’s future within histories of colonialism & environmental injustice.
After the coffee break by the ICTA-UAB Management Team, 🔬 Scientific Highlights of 2025 showcased ICTA-UAB’s research excellence. Ten short talks highlighted influential papers across oceans, land, cities, consumption & policies —combining top journals with real-world impact.
From ocean deoxygenation and Arctic plankton to heat justice, post-growth economics, and climate pledges, the session made visible how ICTA-UAB research travels across disciplines—and beyond academia.
📌 Maria Pastor provided an update on the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence (MdM-3), outlining recent developments, upcoming milestones & key organizational issues relevant to the ICTA-UAB community.
The symposium closed with Research Speed Dating: fast-paced, structured conversations helping researchers find collaborators, share interests & spark new projects—turning ideas into future partnerships. #ResearchCollaboration
