My oranges for Marmalade have arrived. Straight from the farm and in perfect condition. No, not all 'pretty', but organic and fresh.

#CrowdFarming

@tiggy Hurrah! At last, a successful fruit delivery! Happy marmalading.
@tiggy where is your supplier? That is a significant quantity though - 3 or 4Kg? a couple of days work at least. I'm afraid I just get mine (organic) at the supermarket. Can you determine the terroir by tasting your finished product?

@AndyDearden

Crowdfarming allows you to select the grower. I ordered a 4kg box, enough to provide marmalade for a year.
The oranges are directly transported from him to me.
The box smelt delicious, the house filled with the smell of oranges before I even got the first pan boiling.
Because I have energy limiting conditions and can't stand for long, I just boil half of them then extract the pulp. The other half my home help peels (with a potato peeler) then shreds the peel and juices them for me.
I add a tiny bit of sugar to help preserve it, plus carb free sweetener. Then because it won't set well without loads of sugar I boil it down over several days (I bought an electric pan stirrer for this). The result is the strongest marmalade you'll ever taste.
It keeps in the fridge for at least a year.

In the past, I've ordered other stuff from crowdfarming but bought oranges from my usual supermarket. This year they stopped selling them.

@tiggy intersting - thanks for the ideas. I've never tried to crreate a low carb marmalade, but I do like mine a lot sharper than most people.
