60 percent of Danes now see the USA as an adversary, according to the latest poll from Epinion.

This is a completely new situation caused by Trump threatening Greenland, and I believe this will create a lasting crisis between Denmark and the US, while affecting how Europeans in general view the Americans.

The cleanup needed after Trump will take decades.

@randahl
For the EU it seems weirdly like a test about their "adultery" as a Union.
Are they able to "stand on their own"?
πŸ€”
Or are they gonna fall apart?

@randahl

I believe the trust ship has sailed. No majority of Danes and many Europeans will never trust the US again.

@perjakobsen @randahl add "many Canadians" to that list. πŸ’ͺ

@randahl I think that the cleanup won't be successful. If you can't show that something like this won't happen again, nobody will trust US again.

It would need some really deep changes in political system and I don't think that they are able to make them.

I am not Danish, but I do not think that this is only caused by US's position on Greenland.

The way that the US deals with Ukraine and Russia is part of what makes Europeans see the US as an adversary.

Yes, Europe started to realise that they need to cut their dependency from the US for several reasons, one of them being Greenland.
@randahl personally I think especially for Danes this topic is sore & plays a role, but IMO this is by far not the only reason for the alienation between USamerica & the world. The non-Dane nations as well are distancing themselves & looking at the USA as potential threat/enemy. IMO it started in Jan '25 when Felon 47 announced he will make CAN his 51st state. The statistic unfortunately only is available in German but the source "statista" has always been very reliable.

Sweden needs to calm tf down
@grob I hope no one calms down in this matter - we need ppl top stand up, voice up, have a spine & show up. Just like they did in ITA. IMO we do not want history repeating in Europe. again. @randahl

@Ilka4You @randahl absolutely! I was just stumped by the percentages adding up to way more than 100% for Sweden.
@grob I understand. Sometimes the questions are more complex you only see the full spectrum if you sign up it then usually makes mathematically sense. I used to be signed up for my job and know this from past experience but i am not anymore so i cannot explain this case. :-) @randahl
@Ilka4You @randahl that is very useful to know about more info being available when signed up! Thanks for sharing πŸ‘, this helps to understand why these 100% issues are there from time to time.
@grob my pleasure. I am not saying there couldn't be mistakes but in my experience multiple questions are summed up & sometimes are above 100% reflecting the complexity & general trend at the same time. In this case my interpretation is: there is a huge disagreement to usa politics, but also some common satisfaction in several other sectors. Without signing up again I have no way of checking if my assumption is correct though - it is based on my experience/temperature interpretation. @randahl
@randahl A great reason to start today! IMPEACH REMOVE PROSECUTE!!!

@randahl The trust has always been somewhat one sided.

Time will tell, if European nations (governments) manage to trust each other to the same degree they trusted the US (government)

Trust….but verify.

@randahl it would take an incredible amount of work to start rebuilding trust at this point.
@randahl It's better to stop trusting our government. We've done the wrong things too often.
