I struggle a lot with Chinese characters that have two different pronunciations, but today I found one that has three??!

The meaning I was looking for is in the first entry: 帖tiě measure word for a dose of herbal medicine.

And it doesn’t help that I initially mixed it up with 贴

@blue as someone who's studied chinese for much of my life, think of them like english homophones ('right' vs 'write')! that's also what the tones are for, i still find it hard in speaking where you have to remember and produce the tone yourself – especially for words i don't really say that often 😭😭 it's easier to distinguish in listening/writing because you can guess by context (how chinese can work in songs)
@crashmoney
I use Chinese mostly for reading so it’s not as bad, but yeah it would be very hard for me if I had to use those words in conversation
For now, it’s mostly annoying when studying my Anki cards, it’s so easy to mix things up and forget which pronunciation is associated with which meaning! (Especially when meanings are close like 散 sàn/sǎn   )
