It can feel like our city is losing its artistic core. Along with the shuttering of fellow galleries and museums, we were disheartened to see the loss of SFAI and California College of the Arts (and Crafts). These institutions raised folks who made this place weird and fun, interesting and beautiful.

But we haven’t given up on #SanFrancisco. Our galleries are still free every Thursday: https://letterformarchive.org/visit/

And you can join us for Letterform Live on March 14 to help ensure the Archive remains open to all: https://letterformarchive.org/live/

Visit

Visit the gallery exhibition, request a self-guided research visit, or book a guided tour.

Letterform Archive

And anyone, regardless of their experience or background, can schedule a visit to see virtually anything in the Archive. Like all special collections libraries with open access, we exist not just to preserve rare things, but to share them: https://letterformarchive.org/visit/research-visits/

We proudly share this ethos with our library peers in San Francisco:
– SFPL Book Arts https://sfpl.org/locations/main-library/book-arts-special-collections
– Prelinger Library https://prelingerlibrary.org

There’s a lot of talk about tech innovation around here, but it’s open orgs like these that keep the Bay’s creative engine running.

Research Visits | Letterform Archive

Letterform Archive offers one of the world’s best special collections and design reference libraries. Students, academic researchers, and professional designers with a specific focus can engage deeply and independently with a few materials on a single topic, designer, format, or discipline.
