I recently watched the theatrical cut of 'Aliens' (which turns 40 this year): https://imdb.com/title/tt0090605/

I've seen it many times and it is pretty damn solid, still.

Tonight I watched the extended edition, and, boy, did it feel long: So many scenes just dragged on and on. There was an early scene from LV-426 where Newt's parents discover the spaceship with the eggs, and it had a strange TV-movie vibe to it.

There was a scene where the LV-426 kids are scolded for playing in the air ducts, so we know how Newt knew to hide there. Who cares? We don't need to be told, and in fact it is cooler if Newt didn't know in advance but was just a resourceful kid who found out.
